MARKETING PLANNING & MANAGEMENT

Linda Sperling has developed and executed marketing strategies designed to increase customer utilization, increase sales conversions, and expand brand awareness. She sourced content from contributors around the world, managed outside writers, designers and developers, and delivered the project on schedule…resulting in tremendous feedback from all stakeholders. POLITICAL COMMUNICATION

As a first-time candidate, how did Linda Sperling manage to come within 1.5% of defeating a three-term incumbent, heir to a long-time Fairfax County political dynasty? Simple: she is a natural political communicator.

She had never done any kind of fundraising before, but raised over $150,000 in a very tight year, with over 40 state and local offices on the ballot. In addition, she developed and implemented her own communications campaign: from dozens of endorsements—including endorsements by national organizations including Emily’s List and Vote Mama—to an op-ed published in the Washington Post.

Check out some highlights of her campaign:

SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT

Linda was an “early adopter” of social media, not only in regards to social media marketing, but also social customer care. She was the Chair Emeritus of the Word of Mouth Marketing Association’s Customer Service Subcommittee, and was the editor of the Best Practices Guidebook to WOM in the Customer Contact Center (read more about it here).

Linda has developed social media strategies for multiple organizations, as well as developed social media content and then distributed it using Hootsuite. Social media channels in which she is proficient include Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instragram. Thanks to Linda’s guidance, brands for whom she has managed social media have seen an increase in engagement and followers across multiple channels by 20%-50%, depending on the channel.

One of her favorite social media campaigns was the “30 Cities in 30 Days” campaign she developed for Aspire Lifestyles. Developing social media strategy for a white-labeled B2B brand can be challenging, but Linda was up to the challenge, and realized the ability to showcase what the company can do for its clients by telling stories via this communication medium—stories told through pictures. The “30 Cities in 30 Days” campaign utilized social media to showcase the company’s incredible global expertise, focusing on its extensive global footprint and partnership network.
